
Pennsylvania Fish and "Hang" Weekend
Welcome to the Pennsylvania Fish and “Hang” weekend of education, empowerment, and fun hosted by United Women on the Fly and Lancaster Fly Girls. This weekend has been designed to be budget-friendly. This event is the UWOTF fish and “hang” format, where participants venture out to fish on their own each day and then hang out in the evenings. We have reserved a lodging that is 5-star rustic. Individual Cabanas and Bunkhouse lodging are available. The event takes place near Port Matilda, Pennsylvania from 5/26 – 5/28/23.
UWOTF has partnered with Fly Fish Instruct to offer There will be an OPTIONAL 4hr “Independent Angler” Workshop on Friday 5/26/23. The goal with this workshop is to leave you feeling more confident and competent for the DIY Fishing weekend. Register HERE for the workshops or lodging.

Independent Angler Workshop
The “Independent Angler” workshop will give you the knowledge to continue your fly fishing journey. We want you to leave feeling more confident and competent on the water. This course is geared towards the beginner to the intermediate angler. You will have access to the online “Fly Fishing 101” and “Reading Trout Water” course to review before the women’s weekend.

Travel
Our lodging with GodSpeed Motel is located in Port Matilda PA which is in Centre County known as the heart of Pennsylvania Fly Fishing! Close to State College and Blue Ribbon Streams, it’s a perfect location!
The nearest airport to Port Matilda is 111 miles: Harrisburg, PA (MDT / KMDT) Harrisburg International Airport and 140 miles: Pittsburgh, PA (PIT / KPIT) Pittsburgh International Airport.
Meals
Meals included are dinner on Friday and Saturday, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Friday night dinner is sponsored by Precision Fly & Tackle. You’re on your own for lunches and beverages of choice (BYOB). There is a deli/gas station nearby that makes subs/salads called LYKENS located at 100 E Plank Rd Port Matilda, PA 16870.

Loding OPtion
We have reserved GodSpeed Motel, a 5-star rustic, property with individual cabanas and bunkhouses lodging available. Reserve your spot HERE.
Cabana's
Stay in one of the 12 cozy rustic Cabanas. Each includes a queen size bed, a futon, a Dyson bladeless fan, fresh linens, bottled water, and beautiful handmade blankets. Cost $325.00 for an individual cabana. Register HERE.
Bunkhouses
Each side has 6 full-sized bunk beds, fresh linens, and bottled water. There is a common room between the two large group suites. Cost $250.00 for a shared bunkhouse. Register HERE.
Showers
Spacious and always meticulously clean. Just steps away from the bunkhouse and cabanas. The showers are stocked with body wash, shampoo and conditioners, and unlimited hot water!
Fishing
Centre County is home to PA’s best trout streams in the state. Bald Eagle Creek, Spring Creek, Little Juniata River, Fishing Creek, Penns Creek, just to name a few. Visit the link to PA Fish & Boat Trout Streams (arcgis.com) interactive map to find fishing and access points.
Fishing License
Anglers 16 years of age and older are required to possess a valid Pennsylvania State fishing license. Purchase a PA fishing license HERE.

If you’re choosing to DIY Fish, see the handout with locations of where to go. Each angler is responsible for bringing their own gear, tackle and flies. If you need gear, please let us know.

Education opportunities
Take the “Independent Angler” course on Friday morning before the weekend kicks off. There will be education opportunities each evening with the co-hosts learning the basics of knots, leader set-ups, flies, etc. Don’t be shy to ask questions!
