Casting for Recovery Liaison
Lindsay Kocka, born and raised in the Minnesotan land of 10,000 lakes, began fishing as a kid at her Grandparents cabin on Big Marine Lake. Always a lover of the outdoors, when she first started to learn how to fly fish in 2015 she was immediately enthralled not only with the style of angling itself, but the amazing landscapes in the Driftless region that she was discovering and exploring for the first time. With a career as a yoga, movement, and meditation instructor, she was also struck by the many parallels that she experienced both in her mindfulness practices and while on her local trout streams.
Relocating to Montana in 2020, Lindsay now finds herself fully immersed in the fly fishing culture and community. As the Program Coordinator for Casting for Recovery in her region, a mentor for The Mayfly Project, and the founder of ‘Fluent Movement on the Fly’, a uniquely developed movement and mobility methodology to help anglers build their abilities to confidently traverse the outdoors within their angling adventures, she’s honored to be a part of the United Women on the Fly team.
Always eager to help others to learn more about fly fishing, while recognizing our need to continue catalyzing growth, diversity, and inclusivity in this sport, she’s grateful to be a part of such a strong community of movers and shakers. When Lindsay isn’t on the water, you can find her ripping around on her mountain bike, attempting to stay upright on her paddle-board, and cruising the mountainous countryside with her partner and their two pups.”
