Welcome to the first annual North Carolina Women on the Water weekend hosted by Pisgah Area Women’s Fly Fishing and United Women on the Fly. This weekend is for all budgets. Fishing
The mountains of western North Carolina are home to roughly 4,000 miles of coldwater streams, more miles of trout-supporting waters than any other southeastern state. Our home county, Transylvania, boasts nearly 500 miles of coldwater creeks, streams and rivers, which means there is wonderful trout fishing almost everywhere you look, ranging from tiny brook trout streams to raucous rivers plunging through deep gorges filled with rainbows and browns.
If you’re choosing to DIY Fish, see the handoutwith locations of where to go. Each angler is responsible for bringing their own gear, tackle and flies. If you need gear, please let us know.
Hire a Local Guide
Here are some local outfitters to hire over the weekend.
There will be education opportunities each evening with the co-hosts learning the basics of knots, leader set-ups, flies, etc. Don’t be shy to ask questions!
Covid Policy
Safety is our biggest concern. We will follow the CDC and State of North Carolina recommendations.
United Women on the Fly and the Pisgah Area Women’s Fly Fishing group want you to have an unforgettable weekend. The event mission is to foster a sense of belonging to all individuals who attend. We will provide education, resources and connect anglers throughout the weekend. Drama of any kind will not be tolerated. This weekend is DIY and not guided by the co-hosts. Please connect with other women in the Facebook Group to make fishing plans. This is not an exclusive women’s weekend as some partners will also be attending.
