Sara Anderson (she/her) is from Pierre, South Dakota. “I have been fishing my entire life but only recently learned how to fly fish. I live right on the amazing Missouri River and am so fortunate to have access to world class Bass and Walleye fishing.
“I have been regular and ice fishing since I was about 4 or 5 years old and absolutely love everything about fishing. I never knew I could get even more excited about fishing until I saw a random post in a local hiking group about a lady that was looking to teach women how to fly fish. I met up with her and another lady and she taught both of us how to fly fish in just a few hours. After we were done, I went straight to Cabela’s and bought a fly rod and setup with this gal that would become one of my best friends and adventure buddies. That is why I absolutely love this sport. There are so many incredible women that share the same interests and beliefs and it’s great to be able to connect with them, especially when you’re from a town of about 14k people!!
“The first couple of years that I was learning how to fly fish, I never knew I could fly fish in my own backyard as I thought you had to go to the mountains to fish in the streams and such. Come to find out, fishing on our River and the National Grasslands’ stock dams has become one of my absolute favorite things to do in my fishing kayak.
“I am an adventurer who loves to travel and camp, loves to eat and loves to fish! I have an insane amount of hobbies and am thankful for a flexible job in the construction industry that allows me to work from wherever I want. I am also in the process of learning the art of tying flies. We have a local group that meets weekly and it’s great to have access to people that are knowledgeable in tying!”
