Harvest and Fish Filleting Tips, Recipes and Invasive Species

Dr. Liz Perkin

Dr. Liz Perkin currently works for Native Fish Society as the Northern Oregon Coordinator. Previously, Liz worked as an environmental consultant in Calgary, Alberta, a visiting professor in Maryland and Oregon, and a scientific researcher in Vancouver, BC.

Liz will be discussed a Citizen Science project to help us better understand smallmouth predation rates on native species in the PNW.

J. Michelle Swope

J. Michelle has been a part of United Women on the Fly since the beginning in September 2016.  J. Michelle guides in Western Washington, works for the Native Fish Society and is founder of Oly Women on the Fly.

J. Michelle helped walked us through answer the common harvesting questions that the UWOTF Community had.

Katie Dowe

Katie Dowe got into fly fishing about 6-7 years ago after going through a rough patch in life. Fly fishing gave her so much joy, passion and calm that she knew she had to keep doing it! Katie grew up and has lived on Vancouver Island, Canada for the majority of her life. She loves fishing for anything with fins.

We are fortunate to have Katie join us again to share her fish filleting tips.

Patricia Clement

Patricia Clement, native of Brooklyn New York, is a devoted wife, mother of two, retired Police Officer and  successful entrepreneur. Patricia is a mentor for the Richmond Big Brother Big Sister program, volunteers delivering meals to seniors for FeedMore and has received numerous awards for serving her community. Patricia has a passion for helping people and is an excellent role model for youth and aspiring entrepreneurs.  

Patricia was introduced to the outdoors about 5 years ago when she and her husband  purchased a travel trailer and began camping. Since then, Patricia has immersed herself in outdoor activities and launched Rivah Sistah in 2021 to share her journey and inspire others.

Sara Anderson

Sara is from Pierre, South Dakota.  Living on the Missouri River, Sara is very fortunate to have access to world class Bass and Walleye fishing.  She has been conventional and ice fishing since I was about 4 or 5 years old and has recently taken up fly-fishing.  Sara is an adventurer who loves to travel and camp, loves to eat and loves to fish!

Sara shared her favorite fish recipes with us and gave some tips for how to best cook fish.
